Our Kozy Coats are great plant protectors made of red plastic isulating tube cells, that can surround your young tender seedlings to keep them warm during unpredictable spring weather. The Kozy Coats will protect plants and seedlings to 22 degrees F, allowing you to plant 2 months earlier for your spring garden.

These plant protectors are ideal for warming the soil ahead of time before planting your seedlings. Use an empty five gallon bucket as a framework. Then fill the kozy coat two thirds full, remove the bucket, allowing the kozy coat to form a cone shape for a week or more to warm the soil. The kozy coat needs to remain in the cone shape for keeping the soil warm night and day.

The Kozy Coat plant protector tube cells will hold 3 gallons of water, when filled. Place it around your planted seedling and you have an insulated red topless igloo for your plant. The sun heats the water during the day and releases the warmth at night. Leave the kozy coats in the cone shape as long as poossible. You can also use large patio plant containers with our Kozy Coats.

Heat loving plants, like peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and melons benefit greatly when using Kozy Coats. The color red causes the red spectrum of light to be reflected onto tomatoes and peppers to stimulate plant growth. If you live in a hot gardening zone, you may want to remove the Kozy Coat after cool spring weather warms up. Drain your Kozy Coat and fold up for storage as they are reusable to be used on the next planting season, fall or winter.
